Distovia Music Distribution · last updated 8 August 2026
Distovia is a music distribution platform. Artists and labels use it to send releases to streaming
stores, to see what those stores report, and to be paid. This page says what we hold, why, and what you
can make us do about it.
The short version. We collect what is needed to distribute your music and
to pay you — and nothing to sell. We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone, and we do not use it for
advertising. Your identity documents and bank details are encrypted before they are stored.
What we collect
- Your account — name, artist name, email address, phone number, password (stored only
as a one-way hash, never readable by us).
- Identity verification — a government ID number and a photograph of the document. We
ask for this because we send money to a real person and are required to know who that is.
- Payment details — bank account or mobile wallet number, and the payouts made to it.
- Your music — audio, artwork, lyrics, credits and the metadata you enter.
- What the stores report — streams, revenue and territory figures they send back.
- Support conversations — messages, attachments, voice notes and calls you have with us.
- Technical records — device and session information, sign-in times and IP address, kept
so that we can show you where your account has been used and warn you about sign-ins that look wrong.
What we do with it
- Deliver your releases to the stores you chose, which necessarily means sending them your music,
artwork and the metadata for it.
- Pay you, and produce the statements and tax documents that go with that.
- Answer you when you ask us something, and check that a payout request is genuinely yours.
- Detect fraud and impersonation — for example, the same bank account appearing on unrelated accounts.
We do not use your data to train anyone else's models, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Who else sees it
- Streaming stores and shops (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Deezer and others you
select) receive your release and its metadata. That is the purpose of the service.
- Payment providers and banks receive what is needed to move money to you.
- Your own team — anybody you add to your account, limited to what their role allows.
- Authorities, where the law requires it or where we must defend a legal claim.
Nobody else. We do not sell personal data.
Artificial intelligence
Some features use machine learning: drafting a support reply, reading a screenshot you send us, checking
cover art before a store rejects it, and transcribing a voice note. These run on our own servers.
Your music, artwork and messages are not sent to an outside AI company for these features. Anything a machine
writes is labelled as such.
How it is protected
- Everything travels over HTTPS.
- National ID numbers and bank account numbers are encrypted before they are written to the database, so
a copy of the database alone does not reveal them.
- Passwords are hashed and cannot be recovered by us — only reset.
- Staff access is limited by role and recorded. Every administrative action is logged with who did it.
- Backups run nightly, are encrypted, and a copy is held off-site so that one failed disk is not the end
of your catalogue.
No system is perfect. If a breach ever affects you, we will tell you what happened rather than hope you
do not notice.
How long we keep it
Account, catalogue and financial records are kept for as long as your account exists, and afterwards only
where we are legally required to — tax and royalty records in particular, which must be retained even after
an account closes. Support conversations are kept as a record of what was agreed, because they are often
about money.
What you can ask us to do
- See it — request a copy of everything we hold about you, from the app or by email.
- Correct it — most of it you can edit yourself. Once your identity is verified, the name
on the account is locked so that it cannot be changed after money starts moving; ask us and we will
handle a genuine correction.
- Delete it — ask us to erase your account. We will, apart from records we are required
to keep, and we will tell you exactly what those are.
- Take it elsewhere — export your catalogue and your earnings in a standard format.
- Stop the emails — turn off emailed support replies in the app at any time.
Write to support@bemusix.com and a person will answer.
Children
Distovia is not for children. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and to hold the
bank account we pay into.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app rather than quietly editing the
date at the top.
